Mobile Communication Terminal, or the MCT as it is called, is an in-vehicle device that is capable of data collection (GPS and other vehicle data), and data communication with a GPRS gateway.
The MCT can be imagined as a special type of miniature browser connected to the Internet. It is also a type of computer with a proprietary operating system with several applications running on it. All these applications are akin to web enabled applications and require the support of the web server, in most situations, to run.The MCT has several in-built applications like Automatic Vehicle Location, etc. These applications need some data to function and when provided with data they can produce useful data outputs that can be used by the server or other remote applications. |
